Update

Well, here we are in Chrissy's twelfth week of pregnancy. She is doing well the Dr. says after our last visit on Monday the 14th. We were able to hear the baby's heartbeat. It was fast so the Dr. says an old wives tale is that is a sign of a baby girl. We don't know but we will see in about 6 weeks. At that time we will be able to tell what we are going to have. We are so excited about the baby but don't think it has really hit us yet that we are going to have children.

It has been a busy week here at the Hughes household. I have been flying a lot in the last few weeks and have been from the east coast to almost the west coast and back again. Late last week I was in Livingston, MT and Aspen, CO, right in the middle of the Rocky Mountains twice in the same week. I tell you, it is a beautiful place. I never want to leave those places. After leaving there, we were back to Grand Island, NE for a fuel stop. Then it was on back to Nashville to drop our passengers off, fuel up with Jet A and head for Hartford, CT and Charleston, S.C. Yesterday, we left for Shelby, N.C with the great Earl Scruggs and his son Gary Scruggs. It seems that the County of Cleveland in N.C is dedicating an old building that they are now refurbishing to Earl that will be a museum of sorts. After all, Earl was born and raised in Boiling Springs, N.C just a few miles down the road. It was great to be with a legend such as Earl for the past couple of days. A great guy he is.....and so humble. I am back home now and resting for my next trip to Flint Michigan tomorrow afternoon with Travis Tritt. Chrissy has just arrived home from work and not feeling well apparently. She laid down and went to sleep. I hope everyone is doing well. So far, so good on this end, I think. Take Care.

Week 11

Week 11
How Big is the Baby at Eleven Weeks Pregnant?Your little one is growing larger and larger as you continue your pregnancy week by week. By pregnancy week 11 your baby is big enough to hold in the palm of your hand. Between 1.75 and 2.4 inches long your little bean weighs almost .3 of an ounce, and is probably about the size of a small plum.

Your Baby's Growth and Development
By pregnancy 11 weeks you can still see right through your baby's skin. In fact, your baby's skin will remain paper thin throughout much of your pregnancy, until you come closer to term. If you were to look directly at your baby during pregnancy week 11 you could see her blood vessels through the skin. By this point in time your little one should be able to open and close her fists, and is starting to form little buds that will one day pop out as teeth!
By pregnancy 11 weeks your baby's fingers and toes have lost their amphibious like resemblance, now separated instead of webbed. Your little one is taking advantage of the huge space she is floating in by pregnancy 11 weeks, by kicking and squirming about.
In the next three weeks your baby will go through a tremendous growth spurt, almost doubling in size. At no other time in your baby's life will she undergo as many rapid changes as are occurring during this stage of your pregnancy.

Your Growth and Development
You may be starting to show a bit by 11 weeks pregnant at this point (but not very much unless you have already had a baby). You are almost at the end of your first trimester by pregnancy at 11 weeks but you still may not look pregnant to onlookers, which some women find frustrating. Take comfort knowing that your uterus however is now just about big enough to fill your pelvis and is probably poking up above the middle of your pubic bone. Before you know it your tummy will pronounce to the whole world that you are pregnant!

Daily Events

Well, here we are, almost to Friday. Today is voting day here in Rutherford County for several positions. We are to vote on city council, commissioner, County Mayor, and various other elected positions. Rutherford County is getting waaaaayyyy too big. Too many folks coming to Rutherford County and deciding to stay. We are actually trying to find a way to get out of at least the city. Land prices are crazy here and the contractors/developers have the city/county officials right where they want them. They can get anything done that they want done, anywhere and at anytime. I makes me mad that is the way things are. There is more and more building all of the time yet the city/county keeps raising our property taxes. If anything, our taxes should be decreasing. Is this vote really going to make a difference, we'll see. I'm leaving now to cast my vote. Wheeewwwww, I feel better.

Week 10

Chrissy, you may continue to feel some morning sickness, dizziness, and fatigue, but they should all be decreasing. At 10 weeks, many women begin to see their stomachs stick out. Generally, this is due to your bowels becoming distended rather than the growth of the baby. Little by little your waistline will become less defined. This is a great time to take some photos and measurements to start documenting your body's changes in your journal.

Your BabyYour baby is somewhere between 1 and 1-1/2 inches in length and probably weighs about 4 grams (or as much as 4 paper clips). He or she has lips, toes, eyes that are usually open, ears that are completely formed, and the genitals are becoming more clearly defined. The little pollywog you have inside has lost its "tail" and this week marks the end of the embryonic stage and the beginning of the fetal stage!

Week of August 5, 2006

Well, here we are in week ten (10) for our expecting mother Chrissy. She is being a real trooper. She is still having some sickness and nausea throughout the day but things seem to be getting better for her. We are excited and can't wait to hear what we are having. We return to the Dr on the 14th of this month to hopefully hear the baby's heartbeat. This is scary and cool all at the same time. At 35 we are going to be parents for the first time. Do you think we waited long enough? Boy, we are finally gonna have to be responsible people. Responsibility sucks. Oh well, I think we will make it ok. We hope baby likes to sleep a lot. We will write more as time allows. We are new at this bloggin' thing too so be patient. Nyles & Chrissy
